As the flagship programme of the best business schools, the Grande École Programme raises many questions: what does this curriculum include? What are the international opportunities? What are the career prospects? In which activity sector? Is it a recognised diploma? Etc. Today, we tell you more about this programme worthy of the best business schools!

What is the Grande École Programme?

The Grande École Programme is a programme that grants the Master's degree to its graduates, delivering a 5-year level degree. Taking place over 3 to 5 years of study depending on the business or management schools, this programme is widely recognised in the professional world for its professional dimension, its selectivity and its excellent employment rate.

Designed to help students build a solid professional project in the various fields of business management (marketing, finance, banking, human resources, international trade, etc.), both nationally and internationally, this comprehensive programme supports the business school student during his studies up to his employment.

Admission to the Grande École Programme

Delivered by the most prestigious business schools, the Grande École Programme is increasingly sought-after in order to pursue post-high school studies. This is why its admission is more and more selective and requires you to take part in exams according to your level of study. Nevertheless, all exams and test banks have one thing in common: they require a certain level of general knowledge.

Post-baccalaureate level

After obtaining your high school diploma, it will be necessary for all students wishing to enter a business school to find out about the post-high school test bank that will give access to the school of their choice (SESAME, Banque Commune d'Épreuves, etc.). At IPAG Business School, the SESAME exam, which brings together 14 business schools, is the test bank that will allow you to join the Grande École Programme on the Nice or Paris campuses, just after your high school diploma.

2/3-year degree level

If you wish to join a Grande École Programme after obtaining your undergraduate diploma, you can apply for and complete your studies by obtaining a Master's degree diploma from a leading business school. The admission procedure is almost similar as the post-high school diploma level since you will have to take an exam depending on the school you are looking for. To enter the IPAG Grande École Programme after your undergraduate degree, after 2 or 3-year studies, you can take the Ambitions+ exam.

The IPAG Business School regularly offers free preparatory sessions for the exams (SESAME and Ambitions+) in order to give you all the keys to succeed!

What is the curriculum of a Grande École Programme?

The Grande École Programme takes place over 3 to 5 years of study depending on the schools and the entry level. It is divided into two parts:

  • The first three years are relatively generalist and prepare you for the different management jobs. They will allow you to discover the different fields and choose your specialisation.
  • The last two years are dedicated to the specialisation in a particular field and train you in very specific management jobs thanks to the different Master's specialisations available to you.

The Grande École Programme is a comprehensive programme that allows you to obtain a 3-year degree level after three years but doesn’t grant you a diploma in after 3 years. To do so, you have to go as far as the 5th year to obtain the recognised diploma.

At IPAG Business School, 8 specialisations (called majors) are available:

The Grande École Programme is a professional programme punctuated by professional experience, whether it is internships or apprenticeship. As part of the programme, these experiences play an important role because they represent several months of practical training spent in companies. At IPAG, students can gain up to 34 months of professional experience. These experiences can also be carried out internationally for those who choose a career abroad.

This programme is also available in some schools in apprenticeship, which allows you to finance your studies but also to benefit from solid professional experience recognised by employers upon leaving school.

Some schools also offer you the opportunity to take a year off to complete your professional project, carry out a humanitarian mission or go on an international adventure.

The advantages of the Grande École Programme

In conclusion, there are many advantages of the Grande École Programme and therefore highly praised by students.

Thanks to its selectivity and its comprehensive specialised and professionalising pedagogical content, the Grande École Programme is widely recognised by companies and offers many job opportunities. Indeed, thanks to its large portfolio of partner companies, a student from a business school benefits from quality support and a professional network helping them to enter the professional world.

The professional experience acquired during the curriculum (internships and/or apprenticeship) is recognised and appreciated by recruiters. They allow you to put into practice the theoretical lessons given throughout your studies and to legitimise professional skills that increase your chances of employment upon leaving school.

Finally, the Grande École Programme is a key avenue for students seeking an international career. Thanks to networks of universities around the world or expatriation programmes, joining a top school will allow you to take advantage of job opportunities globally and gain international experiences.
