Applying for courses abroad can be a confusing, if not stressful, process. At IPAG, we aim to make your admission onto your dream course as simple as possible. But here are some extra tips to help ease you through an international course application and hopefully find success!
Check the course requirements
Whether you are applying for a bachelors or master’s degree course, you should always check the course requirements first. You can see this listed on the right-hand side of all the course pages. Typically when applying for a bachelor’s course, you’ll need a UK A-levels or US high school equivalent qualifications. For a master’s, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree, although some courses will also take relevant work experience into account. For an executive masters, such as our EMBA requirements, you’ll need significant experience and potentially a relevant degree too.
Check the application process
The process of applying to the course can vary depending on the particular program. The method of applying to IPAG courses are listed on the right-hand side, although it’s usually done by submitting your email to receive the online course application.
What to consider for an international course application
Applying to an international course can be a slightly different process. A few things to consider before applying is the location of your course, the funding, and the course requirements. If you’re satisfied with this, then it’s time to put together your application. If the course is taught in a language that isn’t your first language, you may need to prove that your skills in this language is sufficient to take the course. You may also need to take an examination or refresher course if this is required.
How to ensure your application is successful
Applying for an international degree can be a competitive process. The key to success is to demonstrate your relevant skills and knowledge clearly and proficiently throughout your application. Don’t be afraid to ‘sing your own praises’, as this is the time to showcase how you’re best suited to the course. It’s also important to display your passion for the subject and career potential the degree would lead to. To do this, consider why you’re taking the course, and your long term goals once you’ve achieved the degree.
