Our 5-year MSc programmes in Paris To find out more

Based on a traditional Anglo-Saxon university structure, the Master of Science, more commonly known as MSc, leads to questions: why should I choose this degree? What is the difference with other master’s degrees? What are the courses taught? We would like to show you the advantages of the Master of Science!

Master of Science: explanation and principles

What is an MSc?

The MSc, as the name suggests, is a Master's degree that you can join with a bac+3 level (licence, bachelor, DUT...), which takes place over one or two years of study and grants its students a Master's degree at the Bac+5 level.

The reputation of this master's degree lies in the expertise it provides its graduates in very specific professions from a wide variety of branches of study. Contrary to what one might think, an MSc is not the equivalent of a Master's degree of science: it is not a scientific degree consisting of studies of science. This curriculum is also recognized for its international dimension in targeted and high-potential sectors, thus benefiting from an excellent rate of professional insertion.

Highly valued by foreign students or international students, the MSc is particularly suited to profiles wishing to start an international career or wishing to join large French firms open to the international market. It also allows those who wish to do so, to develop or deepen their double skills in order to refine their professional project.

What's the difference between the Master and the MSc?

While a Master’s degree is a university degree that is part of the LMD Program (Licence Master Doctorat) and allows its graduates to have a Master’s degree and therefore 300 ECTS credits (as is the case for our Grande Ecole Programme), the MSc is a Master 2 with an international scope and is famous.

Though you have international career opportunities with certain Masters offered by some of the Grandes Ecoles, the MSc stands out for its strong focus on this dimension thanks to its selectivity in its admission process (language level, international career path and professional experience, degrees obtained, etc.), its partnerships with universities around the world but also its program adapted to the needs and issues of international companies.

As regards the professionalization of the diploma, some MSc require practical application in the field through an internship in a company, while others will focus on workshops or practical work.

Which Master of Science should I choose?

The beauty of the MSc is that it is available in a huge range of fields: from gaming to management, from real estate to humanities, social sciences and economics... from which you can find the perfect specialisation to refine your professional project.

At the IPAG Business School, among our various programs, we offer four MSc's :

  • MSc UX Design et Prospective Digitale
  • MSc E-Sport, Gamification Événementielle
  • MSc Smart Cities et Innovation Urbaine
  • MSc in Business Management (en anglais) à Hanoi

Why should I get an MSc from IPAG Paris?

The MSc programmes dispensed by IPAG as well as our training offer have been designed for students with a clearly defined professional project. Renowned internationally, they also include the practice of a foreign language while providing intense guidance

The particularity of our MSc is that they take place over one year (admissions are based on student profiles with a minimum level of 4 years of higher education). The main objective of our diplomas is to provide those who wish to specialize further or acquire notions in a new field with a double competence. Our pedagogical team of experts in their sector will enable you to benefit from quality teaching in order to specialise.

What should I do after an MSc?

There are two possible career paths after an MSc: you can choose to continue your studies through a doctorate and reach a 8 year post-baccalaureate level, or you can join the professional world directly with a solid background and the possibility of working in the position you are seeking by applying for an MSc.

Whether you are looking for an international career or an expertise in a particular profession, the MSc will allow you to make your projects come true and to target the functions and/or position of your dreams.
