Bachelor: Description and how it works

The Bachelor's degree is an accessible post-baccalaureate diploma, originating from Anglo-Saxon countries, mainly offered by business schools, such as IPAG, but not only! There are many Bachelor programmes specialised in management, graphic design, computer science, web marketing, HR, etc..

Highly professional and with a strong international dimension, it is increasingly considered by recruiters, as evidenced by the outstanding rate of professional insertion of graduates!

How long does a bachelor's degree last?

A bachelor's degree is a IPAG programme, of 3 years, directly accessible after graduation. However, it is possible to complete a Bachelor's degree in less than 3 years, by joining the programme in the 2nd year (after a year validated in higher education) or in the final year (if you have a Bac+2 equivalent, such as a BTS or a DUT).

What's the difference between a Bachelor's degree and a "Licence"?

The main discrepancy between a Bachelor's degree and a licence lies in the institution that delivers the diploma: licences are delivered by French universities, whereas the Bachelor's degree is the prerogative of private schools, especially the Grandes Ecoles, as is the case with the IPAG Business School.

Bachelor's education is generally given in smaller classes than Licence's, and the types of teaching are more diversified (seminars, practical work, case studies, Business Games, Serious Games, workshops led by professionals, mandatory internship periods...), where the university only favors theoretical training.

Lastly, the Bachelors are reputed to be highly professionalizing courses: students will acquire skills that are highly sought-after by companies and, above all, specialise in their final year. Internships and work-study periods allow them to acquire solid professional experience before they even enter the job market!

How do you know if a Bachelor's degree is government recognised?

A French state-recognized Bachelor's degree is awarded the title "RNCP", i.e. it is listed in the National Directory of Professional Certifications. It is therefore a guarantee of quality and appropriateness to what is sought after in the job market. Consequently, registration in the directory is the responsibility of the Minister of Labor and not of the Ministry of Higher Education.

An accredited training course certifies that the graduate has the knowledge and skills to perform a given job.

Why should I get a Bachelor's degree?

In France, the Bachelor's degree awarded by a business school is a very popular degree because it has many advantages over a Bachelor's degree.

The greatest asset of these programs is of course their extremely professional nature. Indeed, a student in the Bachelor's Programme at IPAG is required to complete several internships throughout his or her studies, which contributes to the development of his or her skills:

  • A 8-week sales internship in the first year
  • A 8-week specialised internship in the second year
  • A 6-month professional internship during the third year

IPAG focuses on practical learning, in close cooperation with the company. The teaching is very operational, promoting group work and specialization. On graduating from your Bachelor's degree, you will be sufficiently qualified to enter the world of work and work in a multitude of possible occupations!

If you want to bring an international dimension to your studies, the Bachelor's degree is the perfect diploma! At IPAG, the emphasis is on foreign languages, with mandatory English courses and an optional second language (Spanish, Italian, German, Russian or Chinese). This way, you will emerge from your studies with an excellent language proficiency.

Moreover, Bachelor students on the Paris campus are entitled, under certain conditions, to a 12-week study period abroad thanks to our strengthened partnership on the Kunming campus in China.

Which Bachelor to choose?

Among the Bachelors degrees in Paris and Nice, 5 specialisations are available:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Commerce International
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing & Digital Communication
  • Bachelor's Degree in Luxury Management

You can join one of our Bachelors right after graduation. Admissions to the Bachelor's degree are open to students in their final year of science, economics, literature, technology and vocational studies, subject to the successful completion of the baccalaureate.

It is possible to enroll in a Bachelor's degree in the second year on the Paris campus or in the third year in Paris and Nice, on the basis of a dossier, and on condition that 120 ECTS credits are obtained (which corresponds to 2 years of study, i.e. a BTS, DUT or 120 credits of a university degree).

The admission process consists of three steps:

  • evaluation of the application (on the basis of your CV, cover letter, baccalaureate transcripts, first and final report card, etc.). After examination of your file, you will be invited to a recruitment session on the Nice or Paris campus;
  • written tests of reasoning, logic, English and general knowledge (30 minutes) ;
  • 30-minute motivational interview

What can you do after a bachelor's degree?

When you graduate from the Bachelor's degree, two paths open up to you depending on your professional project:

  You can continue your post-graduate studies and further develop your professional skills with a master's degree or MBA. At IPAG, you can also join the Grande École Programme and then graduate with a 5-year degree. You will receive coaching to help you prepare for the entrance exam, Ambitions+.

  Alternatively, you can join the job market right away. In fact, thanks to your various experiences acquired during your studies, you will have no difficulty in finding your first job. The possibilities are numerous with a Bachelor's degree: depending on your specialization (digital marketing, commerce, human resources...) you can easily find a position as product manager, salesperson, project manager, buyer, etc.
